Our Story
We built Tessella because we needed it.
A short history, in five chapters. None of it is hypothetical — it all happened, on our own kitchen table, before a single line of code.

01
The shoebox.
It started, as most studios do, with a shoebox. Receipts, invoices, screenshots, half-typed notes about who paid what and when. At month-end, we'd dump it onto the kitchen table and try to make sense of it. Some months we couldn't. Some months we just guessed.

02
The stack.
Then we did what everyone does — we bought tools. An invoicing app. A bank-import app. A spreadsheet template someone on Twitter swore by. Each tool worked. Together they didn't. We were paying twelve subscriptions to recreate the shoebox in higher resolution.

03
The decision.
We started Tessella because we wanted one calm surface — the place where the money lives, where the work that earned it lives, and where the answers come from. Not a CRM. Not a ledger. The thing in between.

04
The name.
A tessella is the small tile in a Roman mosaic. One tile means nothing on its own; a thousand of them, set carefully, become an image you can only see from a distance. Every business is made of tessellae — small pieces of work, money, and communication. Tessella is the surface where they form a picture you can finally see.

05
Where we're going.
We're building Tessella for the studios that earn well, want to keep earning well, and don't want to think about bookkeeping for one minute longer than necessary. If that's you — we'd love to have you on the waitlist.
